Forwarding IB Scores

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) provides an official transcript of grades for the Diploma Programme (DP). It is an official copy of an IB candidate’s results. Transcripts can be sent directly to an institute of higher education, such as a university. These documents are not sent to students or other organizations.

You must go to the COHS IB website at cohsib.weebly.com, go to Transcripts and Scores, then fill out the Google form to request a transcript.

Your deadline to do this is MONDAY, JUNE 1, 2020.

AP Exam Update 4.14.20

AP Exam Updates, 4/14/20

Dear Students,

Please review this NEW information about AP exams.

AP Webinar for Parents (and Students) Thursday, April 16th, 7pm. Click here to register This webinar is presented by the College Board. Some students/parents may have received this by email, but many have not.

IMPORTANT – Verify Your Email Address

Your College Board email is currently set to either your student mail account or a personal account.  You MUST log in to the College Board here and determine which account you have used.  If you reach out to me via your student mail account, I can also share this information with you. This email is coming through your student mail account via your teacher’s Aeries system because it was the easiest way to get information to you quickly.

Students, please verify that you have been receiving emails from the College Board to your personal address regarding the updates to the AP exams this year (things sent in the past 3-4 weeks). The College Board will be sending your exam credentials to the email address they have in their system. If you don’t receive it – I can’t help.

Which Email to Use: I recommend using the student’s personal email address. Seniors, you will no longer have access to your COHS account after June 30, and should consider changing to your personal account now, to ensure continued receipt of emails in the summer.

To Change Your Email – login to the College Board website. Click the name/figure at the top and go to Account Settings. Change the email address in both places, and click Update at the bottom of the page.

Exam Schedule Click here Students – plan to login to the exam 30 minutes before the exam start time.

What You Need to Test Internet connected device to complete testing Smartphone with camera – if you intend to handwrite/snap a pic/upload your response Click here – look for your specific exam at the bottom for specific details

Internet Access We have previously asked all students to notify us if you need internet access.  If your status has changed, you must notify me immediately by email.

Exam Cancellations and Refunds If you are 100% sure you do not want to take the exam(s), request a cancellation through your Total Registration login. YOU MUST DO THIS BY FRIDAY, APRIL 17, 2020 so that I can process this through both TR and College Board. Requests received after Friday, April 17 will not be considered.  Do NOT go through the College Board to do this – they do not process refunds for students.

If you don’t want to take an AP Exam, DO NOT LOGIN using the testing credentials you receive for either test date. After both exam periods have passed, the College Board will let me know who has taken which test. I will then process refunds in June. Again – if you want a refund – DO NOT LOGIN to the test. Logging in is the equivalent of showing up to the SATs and opening your test booklet. Once you’ve done that, you’re being charged.

May vs June Test Dates I strongly encourage all students to plan to test during the May testing period. There are no exam conflicts during this period. If you encounter a technical problem during testing, you will then be able to use the June testing date. There are no further dates after the early June dates – and you won’t be able to get a refund if you’ve already attempted testing. Give yourself a back up plan – test in MAY!

Technical Issues on Exam Day If students encounter a technical issue during May testing, they will have an online form to complete and submit to the College Board. The College Board will review and approve retesting in June.

To reduce the likelihood of an avoidable technical problem, I highly recommend that all students engage in whatever type of preparation (simulation, online videos, etc) is offered by the College Board later this month.

Seniors – AP Score Reporting You must indicate the name of the college you will be attending in your College Board account. This will ensure that your full AP score report (all tests ever) will be sent to the college you indicate. This must be done by June 20th. Many schools have come out with statements in the last week or so, confirming that they will accept the scores per the existing policy.

If you have any questions, please reach out!

Mrs. Archer

PS – WE MISS YOU SO MUCH! AND YES, SOME OF YOU WILL GET THIS THREE TIMES (plus this one) IN YOUR EMAIL – sorry about that 🙂  🙂

IB Examination Update

March 28, 2020

Dear IB students, parents and guardians,

The IB released its latest update regarding the May 2020 exam session yesterday morning.  We expect there will be more information forthcoming but this is what is available at this time.  I will continue to make you aware of important changes.

In short, no exams will be given and in place all students’ Internal Assessments (IAs) will be submitted to the IB by April 20th. The IB will then grade the IAs and award course grades based on the student’s internal assessments, predicted grades supplied by the teacher, and other comparative data done by the IB.

Previously, the IB granted an extension for all work, but is asking for this work to be completed by April 20th if at all possible to issue results by July 5th.

I believe that we are in good shape as most of our IAs have already been submitted to the teacher and have been uploaded by them to the IB.

There are a few courses, notably Art and Theatre, that have work yet to be completed. Teachers should be providing to students an updated timeline for when these IAs should be completed.

It is imperative that students turn in their outstanding work by the deadlines set by their teachers.

You may read the IB’s FAQ update via: https://www.ibo.org/…/covid-19-coronavirus-updates/…

The IB is aware that this is an unprecedented situation and is working diligently to ensure a fair process for students.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

We miss you and we care about you.

Stay safe,

Mrs. Kathy Archer

Important information about the May 2020 IB Examination Session

23 March 2020

To our IB Students and Families,

The International Baccalaureate Organization has announced that the May examinations for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and Career-related Programme will not be held this year due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

As an organization, it is critical for the IB to ensure that the options it provides its global community of IB World Schools are based on compassion and fairness for the difficult circumstances that its students and educators are experiencing. As a result, based on considerable advice from stakeholders across the globe, including schools, students, universities and official bodies, the IB has determined what it believes to be the most responsible and ethical way forward.

The May 2020 examinations as scheduled between 30 April and 22 May for Diploma Programme and Career-related Programme candidates will no longer be held.

Depending on what they registered for, the student will be awarded a Diploma or a Course Certificate which reflects their standard of work. This is based on student’s coursework and the established assessment expertise, rigor and quality control already built into the programmes.

We know parents and student will have many questions. The IB will share full details and FAQs with us and on their website by 27 March 2020.

For any other questions, please contact karcher@cousd.net

Thank you and stay well.

IB Update from Mrs. Archer

March 19, 2020

Dear IB Students, Parents and Guardians,

I am writing to let you know that we are very mindful of the coursework deadlines for the 2020 examination session for International Baccalaureate.  I am monitoring the IB website carefully and have been in direct communication with IB to advise them of our school closure through April 5, 2020. We are communicating with you to ensure that you know we are working to find solutions for everyone involved in the testing process.

If you are in a class with an oral component, your teachers will be contacting you with updated information as to how that process will proceed remotely and extensions on due dates.

At this point, International Baccalaureate has indicated that teachers are to proceed with grading and uploading coursework to the best of their ability.

When I know more information from IB, I will share it with you as it pertains to the exam session and your individual responsibilities.  We are working with the District to ensure we support our IB students in successfully completing their courses and their diplomas. This is a priority for all of us.

Also, if you ordered any apparel, I will make sure that it gets to you at some point.

Your teachers and I want you to know that we care very much for you and we miss you.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kathy Archer
